inZOI's developer has issued an apology for the inclusion of Denuvo DRM in the game and has committed to its removal. This article delves into the developer's statement on this matter and their vision for making inZOI a highly moddable game.
inZOI Will No Longer Have Denuvo DRM
The inZOI development team has confirmed the removal of Denuvo DRM from their game. Over the past 24 hours, reports surfaced indicating that the demo of inZOI’s Creative Studio mode included the controversial anti-tamper software. Denuvo has long been a contentious issue in the gaming community, primarily due to concerns over its impact on game performance.
Designed to combat unauthorized copying and distribution of PC games, Denuvo makes it challenging for individuals to pirate or release cracked versions of games.
In a Steam blog post dated March 26, inZOI Director Hyungjun ‘Kjun’ Kim addressed these concerns, announcing that the Early Access build, scheduled for release on Friday, will be free of DRM technology. "We initially chose to implement Denuvo to protect the game from illegal distribution, believing it would ensure fairness for those who purchased the game legitimately. However, after reviewing community feedback, we realized this decision was not in line with our players' wishes," Kjun explained.
Kjun also apologized for not informing players about Denuvo's inclusion in the Creative Studio mode demo. He acknowledged that while removing DRM might increase the risk of the game being cracked and distributed illegally, it would significantly enhance inZOI's configurability, allowing players more freedom to customize and create unique gaming experiences. "We believe fostering this freedom from the outset will lead to innovative and enduring enjoyment for the community," he stated.
inZOI Being A Highly Moddable Game
The importance of modding to inZOI's vision has been a focal point for the developers, which made the decision to include Denuvo particularly puzzling for players, given its restrictive nature on modding and customization.
Kjun reiterated the commitment to making inZOI a highly moddable game, as mentioned during the Online Showcase. "Our first phase of official mod support is set to launch in May, enabling players to create custom content using tools like Maya and Blender. This is just the beginning; we plan to expand mod support across various game aspects, allowing you to personalize and enrich your experience in numerous ways," he emphasized.
A forthcoming post will provide more detailed information on modding. Krafton continues to prioritize player feedback, making necessary adjustments to ensure a high-quality gaming experience.
inZOI is slated for an Early Access release on March 28, 2025, on PC, with a full launch planned for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The exact date for the full release remains undisclosed.
