Hopetown, a nonlinear RPG developed by Longdue Games, introduces a refreshing approach to narrative-driven gameplay. Founded by former employees of ZA/UM, Rockstar Games, and Bungie, the studio has unveiled its first glimpse into the game’s mechanics, positioning Hopetown as a spiritual successor to Disco Elysium. The game follows a journalist who wakes up in a mining town after a night of heavy drinking. Players must navigate the protagonist's pounding hangover and piece together the previous night's events while managing a brewing local conflict. The choices players make can either soothe tensions or exacerbate the situation, adding depth to the narrative.

Screenshots of Hopetown showcase a dialogue-heavy experience where player choices significantly influence the storyline. The game features multiple archetypes, each with unique dialogue options and approaches to interactions. For instance, when engaging with an elderly woman feeding pigeons, players can choose different tones, which directly affect the outcome of the conversation.
Longdue Games is gearing up to launch a Kickstarter campaign to fund the project, with an active page already available on the platform. While an official release date remains undisclosed, excitement is mounting among fans of narrative-focused RPGs.
Hopetown isn’t the only game taking inspiration from Disco Elysium. Two other studios, Dark Math Games and Summer Eternal, are also developing their own psychological RPGs, adding to the growing genre.
