⚫︎ DOOM: The Dark Ages is set to launch on May 15, offering fans a thrilling prequel set in a medieval-inspired world. ⚫︎ In an exclusive interview featured in PC Gamer's upcoming print issue 408 (396 in the U.S.), Hugo Martin and Marty Stratton, the director and producer of DOOM: The Dark Ages, respectively, discussed the potential for challenge runs focusing on the game's new melee and parry mechanics. Martin suggested that while a melee-only playthrough would be challenging and somewhat "out of bounds," it's technically feasible for the most dedicated players.

Stratton added that attempting such a run might result in a less smooth experience, akin to the infamous pistol-only Ultra Nightmare challenge from Doom 2016.

⚫︎ In another segment of the PC Gamer interview, Martin and Stratton revealed that the story of DOOM: The Dark Ages will not conclude with the Slayer being locked in a coffin, as seen at the start of Doom 2016. Martin explained that such an ending would limit the narrative possibilities for future medieval-era stories. Instead, the game's conclusion will be crafted to allow for more prequels within the "Chronicles of the Slayer" saga.
