Capcom has announced an extension for the Monster Hunter Wilds beta following a 24-hour outage of the PlayStation Network (PSN) that impacted the previous testing session. The PSN experienced an "operational issue" starting at around 3pm PT on Friday, February 7, and services were not restored until 24 hours later. In response to the disruption, Sony offered PlayStation Plus members an additional five days of service.
During the outage, PlayStation users were unable to access online games, and even some single-player titles that required server authentication or a continuous internet connection were affected. The second beta of Monster Hunter Wilds, which was scheduled from Thursday, February 6 to Sunday, February 9, was cut short due to the PSN issues. In response, Capcom has extended the next beta session by 24 hours, now running from Thursday, February 13 at 7pm PT / Friday, February 14 at 3am GMT until Monday, February 17 at 6:59pm PT / Tuesday, February 18 at 2:59am GMT.
Participants in the extended session will still be eligible for the participation bonuses that will carry over to the full version of the game, according to Capcom. Despite the downtime, players managed to experience the game's significant challenge, battling the new monster, Arkveld.
Monster Hunter Wilds is set to launch on February 28, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
