Jack Quaid Wants to Bring BioShock to Life on Screen
The Boys actor Jack Quaid has revealed his passion for the beloved first-person shooter BioShock, calling it one of his all-time favorite games and expressing interest in starring in a live-action adaptation.
During a Reddit AMA promoting his new film Novocaine, Quaid praised BioShock's deep narrative potential, stating: "I would actually love to be in a live-action adaptation—one of my favorite games of all time. The lore is so rich that it could make for an incredible TV or movie adaptation."
What's the Status of the BioShock Movie?
While fans have long awaited a BioShock film, progress has been slow. Last July, producer Roy Lee confirmed Netflix had scaled back the project’s budget, shifting focus toward a "more personal" story rather than a blockbuster-scale production. Director Francis Lawrence (The Hunger Games) remains attached to helm the project.
"The new regime has lowered budgets, so we're doing a smaller version with a more intimate perspective," Lee explained. However, plot details remain under wraps, leaving fans to speculate how faithful the adaptation will be.

Quaid also addressed fan comparisons between himself and Max Payne, whose character design was based on Remedy writer Sam Lake. Some viewers even mistook scenes from Novocaine for potential Max Payne footage.
"Live action Max Payne. Seems so real. Even the woman looks like Mona Sax. The resemblance is almost as if Novocaine characters are modeled after the games."

Despite rarely being mistaken, Quaid admitted he has yet to play Max Payne, though it’s now on his list. "I had to do a double-take when I saw the box art—I really do look like him," he said. "I love Rockstar’s games, but I still need to play this one."
Quaid’s Love for FromSoftware Challenges
Beyond BioShock, Quaid is an avid FromSoftware fan, having conquered Bloodborne and Sekiro before tackling Elden Ring.
"I'm a huge video game nerd," he said. "I’ve been diving deep into FromSoftware’s catalog. Their games are punishing, but I love the challenge—I even use Reddit to find boss strategies."
With his passion for gaming and on-screen intensity, Quaid could be the perfect fit for a BioShock lead—if Netflix's adaptation finally surfaces.
