Capcom Optimizing 'Monster Hunter Wilds' to Enhance GPU Compatibility

Author : Adam Update:Feb 13,2025

Capcom is enhancing Monster Hunter Wilds' performance and aiming to reduce PC GPU requirements before launch. This follows feedback from the October/November 2024 beta test, which revealed performance issues and low-poly models that disappointed some players.

A January 19, 2025, announcement on the German Monster Hunter Twitter (X) account showcased improved PS5 performance via an updated Prioritize Framerate mode. Similar optimizations are underway for the PC version, with a focus on lowering the recommended GPU requirements. Currently, the minimum requirements are an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Super or AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT. Reducing these requirements would make the game accessible to a wider audience.

The initial beta test highlighted significant performance problems, including low-poly character models and frame rate drops, even on high-end PCs. While some players found workarounds, these often compromised graphical quality. Capcom acknowledged these issues on November 1, 2024, stating that an afterimage noise problem would be fixed in the final game, which is already in a more improved state than the beta.
