Hollow Knight: Silksong will be available for just $19.99.
After days of speculation—including a now-removed $20 listing on Gamestop, later verified by prominent leaker Billbil-kun—developer Team Cherry has officially announced the price. The game will retail for $19.99 in the U.S., €19.99 in Europe, and ¥2300 in Japan.
This price point stands out, especially as many publishers experiment with higher game costs. Xbox recently set The Outer Worlds 2 at $80, making it the first title to exceed the typical $70 benchmark. However, after significant player feedback, the pre-order price was reduced to $70 to align with current market standards.
Additionally, the developer confirmed the exact release times: 7am PT, 10am ET, 4pm CEST, and 11pm JST.
During gamescom, Team Cherry announced the release date for the highly-anticipated Hollow Knight: Silksong: September 4, 2025. A nearly two-minute new trailer revealed extensive fresh gameplay, featuring Hornet's exploration, numerous new insect-like NPCs, somber graveyards, swamps, a lively city, new enemies, challenging bosses, and an escape sequence reminiscent of Ori. The game will launch on PC, Switch, Switch 2, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series.
Simultaneously, it was revealed that the original game has surpassed 15 million copies sold, a remarkable achievement for an indie title. Coincidentally, Hollow Knight, eight years after its release, has recently reached record concurrent player numbers on Steam (according to SteamDB), peaking at over 70,000 players last weekend.
Hollow Knight: Silksong is currently the most wishlisted game on Steam, but how does it play? We tested two levels from the gamescom 2025 demo: Moss Grotto and Deep Docks. One offered a gentle introduction, while the other presented a serious challenge. Does the game live up to expectations? Read our hands-on Hollow Knight: Silksong preview from the show floor.
