World of Warcraft's highly anticipated housing system is slated for a 2025 release, with Blizzard recently unveiling initial details. The developers assure players that homes will be accessible to everyone, regardless of subscription status, and without complicated prerequisites, exorbitant costs, or lotteries. This feature is set to debut with the Midnight expansion.
Initially, players can select a plot in one of two designated zones: Alliance players will have access to Elwynn Forest, incorporating elements from Westfall and Duskwood, while Horde players can choose Durotar, featuring aspects of Azshara and the Durotar coastline.
Each zone will be subdivided into districts, each accommodating approximately 50 homes. Players can choose to reside in open areas or establish private communities with friends and guild members. A vast array of customization options will be available, primarily within the game, with some additional items appearing in the in-game shop.
Blizzard highlights three core principles guiding the housing system's design: extensive customization, robust social interaction, and lasting appeal. Further details regarding the housing system are promised in the future, and player feedback is currently being solicited.
