Mark Your Calendars: Netflix Drops Witcher Animated Film This February
Netflix will premiere its latest Witcher animated spinoff The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep on February 11, 2025. Here's everything you need to know about this exciting new addition to the Witcher universe.
A Coastal Adventure in the Witcher World
Based on Andrzej Sapkowski's short story "A Little Sacrifice" from Sword of Destiny, this animated feature takes viewers to a coastal village embroiled in an ancient conflict between humans and merfolk. Instead of facing his usual monsters, Geralt finds himself caught in this underwater dispute.
The stellar voice cast features returning talents: Doug Cockle as Geralt, Joey Batey as Jaskier, and Anya Chalotra as Yennefer. The film also introduces Christina Wren (Will Trent) as Essi Daven, a new character in the Witcher universe.
The creative team brings together the best of Witcher storytelling: original author Sapkowski serves as creative consultant, while series writers Mike Ostrowski and Rae Benjamin pen the script. Director Kang Hei Chul, who previously worked on The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, helms this project.
Canonical Placement in the Witcher Timeline
The film slots perfectly between episodes 5 ("Bottled Appetites") and 6 of the live-action series' first season. Following Geralt and Yennefer's fateful meeting in the Redanian city of Rinde, the story sees Geralt taking on a mysterious coastal contract.
While location details remain speculative, evidence suggests the story may unfold in the Temerian city of Bremervoord under Duke Agloval's rule - though whether the film will strictly adhere to Sapkowski's original tale remains to be seen.
