Zynga, the publisher of Star Wars Hunters, has announced the game's complete shutdown just nine months post-launch, with plans for a Steam version apparently canceled.
The free-to-play team arena battler, developed by NaturalMotion, debuted on Nintendo Switch and mobile devices in June 2024. Our IGN review gave Star Wars: Hunters a 7/10, describing it as "lighthearted PvP fun that shines briefly but lacks staying power."
Game Shutdown Timeline Announced
Zynga's decision proves somewhat prophetic, with the company confirming the final content update will arrive April 15 before servers permanently close October 1, 2025.

"We recognize this news may disappoint players," Zynga stated. "This decision followed careful evaluation, and we're grateful for the community's passionate support throughout our journey."
Final Season Details
The shutdown process begins March 25 with Season 5 extended three weeks, featuring returning events and shop bundles. Players gain extra time to achieve Kyber 1 rank before the final content update launches April 15, introducing new Support Hunter Tuya free for all players.
Between April and October, the game will maintain ranked leaderboards with all battlefields and modes in rotation before servers permanently go offline.
Notably absent from the announcement is the previously promised Steam version, with its store page now marked "unavailable." This marks a significant reversal for Zynga, which had positioned Star Wars: Hunters as its first PC release following mobile and Switch success.
Future of Star Wars Gaming
While Hunters closes, multiple Star Wars projects remain in development, including Respawn's next Jedi installment and Bit Reactor's tactical title planned for reveal at Star Wars Celebration 2025.
