Despite an exciting pre-launch crossover event featuring beloved Sega classics like Super Monkey Ball and Altered Beast, Sonic Rumble won't be making its global debut just yet. This multiplayer battle royale, which had amassed over 1.4 million pre-registrations, has been put on hold as Sega focuses on perfecting the game.
The reason for the delay is the upcoming version 1.2 update, which is set to enrich Sonic Rumble's toybox world created by Dr. Eggman. This update introduces exciting new features such as Rumble Rankings, Crews, and character Skills, enhancing the game's depth and strategic elements. Rumble Rankings will allow players to compete on seasonal leaderboards for rewards, while Crews will enable you and your friends to tackle score missions together. Additionally, the new Skills system will equip characters with unique abilities, adding a fresh layer of strategy to the gameplay.
Instead of rushing these updates out mid-launch, Sega has decided to take extra time to ensure everything is polished to perfection. In the meantime, a Q&A session is scheduled for May 2nd on Discord, providing fans with an opportunity to learn more about what's coming and ask any questions they have.

The delay won't affect the rewards promised for pre-registration. Players can still look forward to receiving 5,000 Rings, a Crystal Chao Buddy, the Happy Sticker, the Garnet Knuckles skin, and the exclusive Movie Sonic skin for reaching the 1.4 million pre-registration milestone. These rewards will be ready and waiting when the game finally launches.
