Recent leaks suggest a significant expansion to Zenless Zone Zero's update schedule, potentially exceeding expectations for a game still in its first year. The current patch cycle, it's claimed, will conclude with Version 1.7, paving the way for Version 2.0. This contrasts with other HoYoverse titles like Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail, which concluded their initial cycles at Version 1.6.
The game's first year has been remarkably successful. Zenless Zone Zero garnered a Best Mobile Game nomination at The Game Awards and enjoyed consistent growth in popularity, even collaborating with McDonald's on exclusive merchandise. This success fuels anticipation for future content.
According to reliable leaker Flying Flame, the planned structure is as follows:
- Version 1.7, followed by Version 2.0
- Version 2.8, followed by Version 3.0
This extended cycle hints at a substantial amount of planned content. A separate leak from the same source reveals a staggering 31 new characters in development, significantly expanding the current roster of 26 playable units.
While Version 1.7 remains some months away, the upcoming Version 1.5 update is generating considerable excitement. This update will introduce two highly anticipated S-Rank units: Astra Yao and Evelyn. Astra Yao is rumored to be a strong support character, prompting players to begin farming necessary materials in advance. Version 1.5 will also include a new main story chapter, a new area, and various events.
The recent Version 1.4 update, which added the powerful Hoshimi Miyabi, experienced some initial controversy regarding alleged censorship. However, HoYoverse swiftly addressed the issue and compensated players. Version 1.4 is slated to conclude in late January.
