Released in March 2025, Assassin’s Creed Shadows marks the newest mainline installment in the franchise. This expansive open-world RPG is set against the backdrop of Sengoku-period Japan and breaks new ground by featuring two playable protagonists: Naoe and Yasuke. Naoe offers that signature nimble, stealth-focused gameplay familiar to series veterans, while Yasuke introduces heavier combat mechanics with a strong emphasis on samurai action, weapons, and armor.

IGN writer Jarrett Green recently reviewed Assassin’s Creed Shadows, awarding it an impressive 8/10 score. He praised the title, stating, “By sharpening the edges of its existing systems, Assassin’s Creed Shadows creates one of the best versions of the open-world style it’s been honing for the last decade.”

Even if you’re new to the franchise, the narrative stands well on its own, while longtime fans will uncover plenty of deep lore. Don’t wait too long to grab this deal at Best Buy, which slashes $40 off the retail price and is set to expire today.
