The Switch 2 is set to launch with a strong lineup of upcoming games, including exclusive titles and enhanced versions of fan-favorites. Heavy hitters like Donkey Kong Bananza and Mario Kart World are available for preorder now, alongside improved editions of Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom optimized for the new hardware.

Other notable preorders include a refreshed version of Mario Party Jamboree, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, and third-party picks like Cyberpunk 2077 and Sonic X Shadow Generations.

Where To Preorder Switch 2 Games:

Keep in mind that not everything will launch on day one, June 5. While some titles arrive with the console, others will be staggered. For example, Donkey Kong Bananza hits shelves on July 17, and highly anticipated games like Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and Pokémon Legends: Z-A remain unavailable for preorder.

Looking for Switch 2 accessories? You're in luck! Joy-Con 2, Switch 2 Pro controllers, cameras, and more are all available to add to your cart today.

How Much to Upgrade Switch Games to Switch 2 Edition?

Nintendo has announced the cost of upgrading select Switch games to their Switch 2 editions. Titles like Kirby and the Forgotten Land and Super Mario Party Jamboree will cost more than the $9.99 upgrade fee for Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. UK prices are listed at £16.99 / €19.99, reflecting the higher price point.

Switch 2 Game-Key Cards?

Almost all third-party Switch 2 games in Japan are Game-Key Cards, and the trend seems to be holding in the West. In the U.S., examples include Sonic X Shadow Generations and Yakuza 0: Director’s Cut. Only four third-party physical Switch 2 games are not Game-Key Cards: Cyberpunk 2077, Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion, Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma, and No Sleep For Kaname Date - From AI: THE SOMNIUM FILES Aiba Edition.

Switch 2 Game Previews

IGN recently previewed two of the most anticipated Switch 2 games—Donkey Kong Bananza and Mario Kart World. Both are available for preorder today, and here’s what they had to say:

Donkey Kong Bananza: "Bananza is shaping up to be one of the most visually stunning Nintendo games ever. The hardware's capabilities are fully utilized, with breathtaking environments and expressive animations. It feels like the future of Nintendo gaming has arrived."

Mario Kart World: "This game defines the Switch 2 launch experience. New features like the open-world format and Knockout Tour mode bring fresh excitement to the series. The visuals are stunning, and the gameplay is pure fun. At $79.99, it's worth every penny."

Other Preorder Guides

2025 is shaping up to be a fantastic year for gaming. Alongside the Switch 2, keep an eye on releases like the Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, Doom: The Dark Ages, and more.
