Sony Unveils Sleek Midnight Black PlayStation 5 Accessories

Sony has announced a stylish new Midnight Black Collection for the PlayStation 5, featuring a quartet of premium accessories: the DualSense Edge wireless controller, PlayStation Portal handheld, Pulse Elite wireless headset, and Pulse Explore wireless earbuds. These additions to the PS5 ecosystem offer a sophisticated dark aesthetic to complement the console.

The collection boasts a consistent price point for three of the items: the DualSense Edge controller, PlayStation Portal, and Pulse Explore earbuds are all priced at $199.99. The Pulse Elite wireless headset is slightly more affordable at $149.99.

Pre-orders for the Midnight Black Collection begin January 16th, 2025, with a full launch scheduled for February 20th, 2025, exclusively through direct.playstation.com.

This launch coincides with the excitement surrounding CES 2025 and follows Sony's previous releases of colored DualSense controllers, including Volcanic Red, Cobalt Blue, and Galactic Purple. Adding to the anticipation, rumors suggest an upcoming major upgrade for the PlayStation VR2 headset.

The Midnight Black DualSense Edge controller, a modern update to the original Midnight Black DualSense, includes a dedicated black carrying case. While the original Midnight Black Pulse 3D wireless headset was priced at $99.99, the Pulse Elite model, also including a carrying case (in felt gray), commands a higher price. Similarly, the Pulse Explore earbuds, despite their compact size, maintain the $199.99 price point.

Beyond the Midnight Black Collection, Sony continues to expand its range of themed DualSense controllers. Following the successful releases tied to God of War and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, a limited-edition Helldivers 2 DualSense controller is now available for pre-order.
