As we approach the August launch of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, Konami has unveiled the stealth game's cinematic opening sequence.
While containing subtle variations, longtime fans will immediately recognize the iconic visuals and soundtrack—from the newspaper transition effects to the James Bond-inspired title track, once again performed by original vocalist Cynthia Harrell.
The trailer offers carefully curated glimpses of key gameplay moments—presented without context—including Snake's dramatic waterfall leap and the infamous serpent-eating sequence that gives the game its name.
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater modernizes Konami's acclaimed 2004 stealth-action title (originally released without the "Delta" subtitle). Recently confirmed for an August 28 release, the remake will feature returning elements like the Snake vs. Monkey bonus mode while preserving the original's mature content—including the controversial Peep Demo Theatre, as indicated by recent age ratings.
"Metal Gear Solid Delta presents more as a visually enhanced remaster than a transformative remake," notes IGN's hands-on preview, which examines Snake's newly implemented first-person viewpoint. "While undeniably gorgeous, its devotion to the source material borders on excess." The original Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater earned a stellar 9.6 score from IGN.
