News of a potential sequel to the cult classic Killer7 has sent ripples of excitement through the gaming community, fueled by comments from Resident Evil mastermind Shinji Mikami. During a recent Grasshopper Direct presentation, Mikami and Killer7 creator Goichi "Suda51" Suda discussed the possibility of both a sequel and a complete edition of the game.
Mikami and Suda Hint at Killer7's Future
Killer11 or Killer7: Beyond?
The Grasshopper Direct, primarily focused on the upcoming Shadows of the Damned remaster, unexpectedly veered into a discussion of Killer7's future. Mikami openly expressed his desire for a sequel, calling the original one of his personal favorites. Suda51, equally enthusiastic, confirmed the possibility, even playfully suggesting titles like "Killer11" or "Killer7: Beyond."
The 2005 action-adventure title, known for its blend of horror, mystery, and Suda51's signature over-the-top style, has gained a devoted following despite lacking a sequel. While a PC remaster was released in 2018, Suda51 revealed a preference for a "Complete Edition" first, an idea Mikami jokingly dismissed. However, the discussion revealed that unreleased Coyote dialogue could be included in such an edition.
The prospect of a sequel or complete edition has ignited fervent fan speculation. While no firm commitments were made, the developers' shared enthusiasm suggests a real possibility of revisiting the stylish world of Killer7. The final decision, according to Suda51, rests on whether "Killer7: Beyond" or the Complete Edition takes priority.
