The Pointer Sisters’ song "Hot Together" has experienced a phenomenal surge in Spotify streams after being featured in the latest trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6, which was unveiled just yesterday. In the mere two hours following the trailer's debut, the 1986 hit saw an astonishing 182,000% increase in streams on the platform. Although Spotify's figures have not been updated since yesterday, "Hot Together" currently stands at just over 250,000 streams, a number expected to rise significantly in the coming days.
Sulinna Ong, Spotify’s Global Head of Editorial, highlighted the impact of the Grand Theft Auto series on popular culture, stating, “Music has been synonymous with the series since the very beginning, so it’s great to see fans both new and established connecting with an iconic track in this way.”
The Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer has already garnered an impressive 77.7 million views on YouTube within 24 hours of its release. The surge in popularity for "Hot Together" mirrors the experience of Tom Petty’s "Love Is A Long Road," which saw a similar spike in streams after being featured in the first GTA 6 trailer in late 2023. While "Love Is A Long Road" sparked numerous fan theories about its connection to the game’s storyline, no such speculation has yet surfaced for "Hot Together."
