Diablo 4 Over Diablo 3? Blizzard Doesn't Care As Long As You Play Their GamesBlizzard's approach to the Diablo franchise prioritizes player engagement across all titles. This strategy is highlighted with the release of Diablo 4's first expansion.

Blizzard's Focus: Player Enjoyment

Diablo 4 Over Diablo 3? Blizzard Doesn't Care As Long As You Play Their GamesDiablo 4's remarkable success as Blizzard's fastest-selling game underscores the company's commitment to long-term support. In a recent VGC interview, Rod Fergusson (series head) and Gavian Whishaw (executive producer) emphasized that sustained player interest across all Diablo games—from the original to Diablo 4—is a key objective. The continued availability of Diablo, Diablo II, Diablo II: Resurrected, and Diablo III exemplifies this approach. Fergusson stated that "just people playing Blizzard games is awesome."

The team doesn't view competition between Diablo titles as a problem. Fergusson clarified that player engagement across the entire franchise is the priority, citing the enduring popularity of the 21-year-old Diablo II: Resurrected as a testament to this strategy. The focus is on creating compelling content that draws players to Diablo 4, rather than actively diverting players from other installments. The goal, according to Fergusson, is to develop content so appealing that players will choose to play Diablo 4. This commitment extends to continued support for Diablo 3 and Diablo II.

Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred Expansion

The upcoming Vessel of Hatred expansion (October 8th) introduces a wealth of new content. This expansion introduces the new region of Nahantu, featuring new towns, dungeons, and ancient civilizations. The storyline continues the search for Neyrelle, leading players into an ancient jungle to confront Mephisto's sinister plot.
