Fans of the Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion anime and manga will be sorry to hear that the strategic tower defense game, Code Geass: Lost Stories, is shutting down globally. While the Japanese version will continue, the global servers will be closing their doors on August 29th, 2024. Developed by f4samurai and DMM Games and published by Komoe, the game, based on Sunrise's popular franchise, launched globally in September 2023, a relatively short lifespan.
When Is the Shutdown?
The final curtain call for Code Geass: Lost Stories globally is August 29th, 2024. After this date, player accounts will be inaccessible, and the game's official social media channels will also be deactivated. In-app purchases and new downloads have already been disabled.
Why the Shutdown?
While the developers haven't explicitly stated the reasons, low download numbers and generally unfavorable global reviews likely contributed to the decision. Many licensed anime gacha games struggle to maintain a significant player base outside Japan, where player spending tends to be higher. The game's blend of RPG, action, and tower defense elements, while appealing to some, apparently wasn't enough to sustain a global audience.
Japanese players can still enjoy Code Geass: Lost Stories via the Google Play Store.
