Infinity Nikki and its multiplayer-focused 1.5 update have launched on Steam, accompanied by a wave of controversy.
After months of exclusivity on the Epic Games Store, Infold Games' stylish dress-up adventure finally arrived on Valve's digital platform yesterday. Instead of a celebration, the launch has been overshadowed by a host of technical problems, confusing design tweaks, and demanding new outfit mechanics. The developers have apologized and promised compensation, but the community's discontent is far from settled.
This was me, waiting eagerly for the update, only to see how things turned out…

PC players were excited to dive into the Steam release, but many encountered launch crashes and general instability. While technical hiccups aren't uncommon for new releases, players quickly found more to criticize beyond just performance issues.
The new five-star outfits, Snowbound Ballad and Undying Ember, each require collecting 11 separate pieces, meaning players could need up to 220 pulls—and significant spending—to complete a set. This unexpected increase from the usual number of pieces has sparked fears that future outfits will follow this more demanding pattern.
Adding to the confusion, Infold abruptly extended the Crown of Miraland: Peak Arena event from two to three weeks. Between the technical problems and these monetization shifts, members of the Chinese player base took to the social platform RedNote to protest, sparking a wider movement. Now, a significant portion of the global community is calling for a boycott on Steam, negative reviews, and even uninstalling the game on all platforms.
Holding back your pulls for a couple of days can help show we want IN to remain fun and fair for all players.“
“I want to remind everyone that a sizable group of Chinese stylists are pledging not to spend or pull on the new banners to send a message through the game's revenue tracking,” Reddit user kiaxxl stated in a call-to-action post. “For gacha games, success is often measured by initial spending spikes. Holding back for a few days demonstrates our desire for Infinity Nikki to stay fun and fair for everyone.”
The coordinated effort has had an impact. The game currently holds a "Mixed" rating on Steam, with many negative reviews warning potential players to steer clear until the developers address these core complaints.
The boycott gained enough momentum that Infold issued a formal apology letter across its official channels. The letter states that many major technical issues have been resolved and promises better communication about future changes.
“Thank you again for your support,” the message reads. “We know we still have room to improve, but it's your continued companionship that drives Nikki forward. Please give us another chance to let Nikki's light shine for all of us, and we assure you our sincerity remains unwavering.”
Apology Letter Regarding Version 1.5 Gaming Experience

Dear Stylists,
Hope this message finds you well.
First and foremost, we would like to extend our sincerest apologies. We are truly sorry that we were unable to provide you with a stable experience upon the release of the new… pic.twitter.com/YEjpGQpKho
The apology included specific actions: reverting the Mira Crown event to end on May 16 and starting the next season immediately, alongside compensation of 10 Revelation Crystals, 10 Resonance Crystals, and 1200 Diamonds. While a step in the right direction, many feel it doesn't go far enough.
Some see Infold's response as a victory, but others remain worried, particularly about the decision to keep new outfits at 11 pieces. Furthermore, while promising better communication, the studio has indicated that some future five-star outfits will still require the full 11 parts.
I wish you would finally change the drop rate.. It can't be that I need 200 pulls to get a 5-star, and then you release 5 banners within weeks?! Lower the pity threshold or give us more diamonds to earn crystals.. This isn't fun!

Players are acknowledging the swift response they helped bring about, even if it's not the total win they wanted. With some changes enacted, boycott organizers are urging the community to maintain pressure.
“Consider this,” Reddit user EdensAsmr pointed out. “If we accept the 11-piece outfits and the current pity system as the new normal, then most new 5-star sets will likely be 11 pieces. Imagine every major update featuring two such banners. The required savings would be immense, and the 70-80 free pulls per update would not be enough.”
