In a recent tweet, the official Bethesda account teased a major announcement scheduled for 8:00 AM PT / 11:00 AM ET, set to stream live on both YouTube and Twitch. While the message stops short of revealing details, the visual clue in the accompanying image—a bold "IV" centered over what appears to be classic Oblivion artwork—leaves little to the imagination.
Talks of an Oblivion remake have circulated for years, but recent weeks have brought a flood of credible leaks that made this reveal feel increasingly inevitable. The first hints appeared back in 2020, when a leaked Bethesda release schedule—uncovered during the FTC vs. Microsoft trial in 2023—listed a potential Oblivion remaster for fiscal year 2022. At the time, however, the document was outdated enough that many dismissed it as a canceled project.
Then, earlier this year in January, new reports surfaced suggesting that the project had evolved into a full-fledged remake, being developed by Bethesda in partnership with Virtuos—a studio known for its work on high-profile remasters such as Final Fantasy VII Remake and Diablo II: Resurrected. And just days ago, further leaks from Virtuos’ own website—including in-game footage and internal branding—seemed to confirm the project's active development.
If these latest leaks are accurate, the upcoming title—reportedly titled The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion Remastered—is expected to launch across PC, Xbox, and PlayStation platforms. A Deluxe Edition will reportedly be available at launch, featuring the iconic Horse Armor add-on alongside the base game.
Make sure to tune in tomorrow to catch the official reveal—and hopefully, a wealth of new details about what fans can expect from this next evolution of a beloved classic.
