A new trailer for the upcoming TV series Alien: Earth has surfaced online, giving fans an exciting glimpse into what promises to be a thrilling addition to the iconic franchise. The trailer, initially showcased at Disney's 2025 Annual Meeting of Shareholders, was shared on the @CineGeekNews X/Twitter account, and it teases the desperate plight of a spaceship crew as they battle a Xenomorph on a collision course with Earth.
FX’s Alien series is set in 2120, strategically placed within the Alien timeline between the events of *Prometheus* and just before the original *Alien* movie. This setting has sparked speculation among fans that *Alien: Earth* might explore the departure of the Nostromo from Earth or reveal how the evil corporation Weyland-Yutani first learned about the Xenomorphs. As a point of reference, the recently released *Alien: Romulus* takes place between *Alien* and *Aliens*.The trailer opens inside a MU/TH/UR control room eerily similar to the one seen in the Nostromo from Ridley Scott's 1979 classic. A crew member is shown desperately seeking help as a Xenomorph begins its deadly work. Morrow, portrayed by Babou Ceesay, appears indifferent to her pleas, coldly reporting that the "specimens are loose," declaring the crew dead, and setting the ship's course for Earth. The trailer then shifts to show six soldiers advancing towards what seems to be the crashed ship, setting the stage for a confrontation with the Xenomorph.
This glimpse into Alien: Earth raises numerous intriguing questions: Will Morrow survive? What are his true motivations? Did any other crew members manage to escape? Was anyone left impregnated by the Xenomorph? And how will the soldiers ultimately meet their fate?
The series follows a mysterious space vessel that crash-lands on Earth, where a young woman, played by Sydney Chandler, and a group of tactical soldiers make a "fateful discovery" that pits them against the planet's greatest threat.
Showrunner Noah Hawley has previously explained why he is not using the backstory provided in Prometheus for Alien: Earth. In January of last year, Hawley expressed his preference for the "retro-futurism" of the original films over the bioweapon backstory introduced in the prequels. He confirmed discussions with Ridley Scott about various elements of the series, including its connections to the prequels, but decided to diverge from the established lore to focus on the essence of the original movies.
Alien: Earth is set to premiere on Hulu in the summer of 2025. Fans can also look forward to Alien: Romulus 2, which is currently in development.
