Alan Wake 2 has surpassed an impressive milestone, reaching over 2 million sales globally. This marks a significant increase from the 1.3 million copies sold between October 2023 and March 2024, a period during which developer Remedy celebrated it as their fastest-selling game to date.
In their latest financial report to investors, Remedy highlighted that this sales achievement, alongside the release of The Lake House expansion and Alan Wake 2 Deluxe Edition, has led the game to start generating royalties after covering its development and marketing expenses.
Looking forward, Remedy is gearing up for the future. The studio announced that Control 2, developed in collaboration with Annapurna, is nearing the end of its production readiness stage and is set to enter full production by the end of February 2025. Similarly, the Max Payne 1&2 Remake is making solid progress in its full production phase.
Additionally, FBC: Firebreak, Remedy's multiplayer spin-off of Control, remains in full production. Following a successful closed technical test in December, which focused on testing matchmaking and back-end services, the game is slated for a self-published release by Remedy later in 2025.
CEO Tero Virtala expressed confidence in the company's future, stating, "We are in a great place to begin our strategy period and have set targets we are confident in reaching."
IGN's review of Alan Wake 2 was highly positive, awarding the sequel a remarkable 9/10. The review praised it as a "superb survival horror sequel that makes the cult classic original seem like little more than a rough first draft by comparison."
