Played with a 52-card deck—13 cards per player. All spades serve as trump cards.

In swamp trump spades, declaring trump is limited to spades.

The goal: Predict your hand wins before play begins and strive to meet or exceed that target.

Starting clockwise from the dealer, players announce their predicted hand wins, recorded on the scoreboard.

Gameplay:

The next player leads any card if none is played. If a suit is led, follow with matching suit.

When unable to follow suit, play trump; otherwise, discard freely.

Scoring:

Points post-round reflect the difference between pledged and actual hand wins.

Met or exceeded pledge:

10 × pledged hands + (actual wins - pledged hands) points.

Fell short:

-10 × pledged hands deducted.

Bonus rule:

Players declaring "zero hands": +50 points if correct, -50 if wrong.

"Settling" occurs when final bids aren't achieved.
