How to Play Çanak Okey

Çanak Okey is traditionally played with four players. Each player uses a cue stick to arrange their tiles, which come in four colors: Red, Black, Yellow, and Blue, numbered from 1 to 13. There are also two fake okeys, making a total of 106 tiles in the game.

At the game's start, all tiles are shuffled and automatically distributed. The player next to the dealer receives 15 tiles, while the others get 14. Players then sort their tiles into pairs or sets, aiming to create at least three-piece sequences of the same color or sets of the same number across different colors.

The remaining tiles are placed in the middle of the table, with one tile flipped over to serve as the indicator stone. The tile matching the indicator's color and number becomes the okey stone, which can be used as a wildcard for any tile. If you finish the bowl using an okey stone, your points are doubled.

Gameplay Rules and Scoring

• Players aim to arrange all their tiles into pairs. Completing the game with seven pairs allows you to drag the last tile to the center, ending the game.
• The indicator rule adds strategy: at the start of a new game, the player whose turn it is checks for an indicator stone. If it matches the okey color, 2 points are deducted from other players.
• Finishing the game with a non-okey tile results in a normal finish, with 2 or 4 points deducted from other players depending on the color. Completing with seven pairs deducts 4 points, while a sequential color finish from 1 to 13 zeroes out other players' scores, ending the game.
• If all tiles are the same color but not in sequence, 8 points are deducted from other players.
