In this reimagined version, players go head-to-head to capture their opponent's Spiders by forming either a Small Chain (3 aligned Spiders on straight lines) or a Big Chain (5 aligned Spiders on circular paths).

Game Description

ZhiZhu! – The Spider™ introduces a new level of complexity and excitement to the timeless gameplay of "Nine Men Morris."

Game Contents

• 1 Spiderweb game board
• 9 white Spiders
• 9 black Spiders

How to Play

START:
Player A begins with 9 white Spiders, and Player B starts with 9 black Spiders. The board begins completely empty.

GOAL:
Outmaneuver your opponent by capturing their Spiders placed on the board.

Capturing Opponent Spiders

You capture enemy Spiders by creating Aligned Chains:

• SMALL CHAIN: Form a line of 3 Spiders along any of the 8 straight lines.
• BIG CHAIN: Align 5 Spiders along any of the 3 concentric circles.

Game Phases

PHASE 1 – Placement

Players alternate turns placing one Spider at a time onto any of the 24 available spots on the Spiderweb.

Chains (Small or Big) can be formed during this phase, allowing for immediate capture of 1 or 2 Spiders from the opponent.

PHASE 2 – Sliding Movement

Once all 18 Spiders are on the board, players enter the sliding phase.

Each turn, a player moves one Spider to an adjacent empty spot (up, down, left, or right) in an effort to form new chains and capture more Spiders.

Capturing Mechanics

• Making a Small Chain allows you to immediately remove 1 Spider from your opponent.
• Creating a Big Chain lets you remove 2 Spiders from your opponent.

Important Rules

• You cannot capture Spiders that are already part of a chain unless there are no loose Spiders available for capture.
• Re-creating the same chain using the same Spiders in the same positions does not qualify as a valid move.
• A new chain is considered valid only if at least one Spider has moved into position since the last chain was formed.

Winning Conditions

• The first player to capture 7 Spiders wins the game.
• Alternatively, a player may win if their opponent chooses to give up, acknowledging an unwinnable position.
