Zach Braff Joins Cast for Confirmed Scrubs Reboot

Author : Liam Update:May 23,2025

In the ever-evolving world of television, where beloved shows often find new life, the 2000s hospital sitcom *Scrubs* is the latest to be revived. It's been 24 years since fans first met Zach Braff's character, junior doctor JD, at Sacred Heart Hospital. Now, Braff is set to reprise his iconic role in ABC's upcoming *Scrubs* reboot, which promises a blend of familiar faces and fresh talent.

This isn't the first time ABC has attempted to bring *Scrubs* back. The network previously tried with the show's ninth season, which introduced a new, younger cast while featuring Braff and other series regulars. However, the concept didn't resonate with audiences, and the season was cut short after just nine episodes.

With Zach Braff's return confirmed, Entertainment Weekly suggests that other beloved cast members might soon follow suit. Bill Lawrence shared his thoughts on the project with Deadline, saying, "We've been talking about a lot, and I think the only real reason to do it is a combo. A: people wanting to see what the world of medicine was like for the people they love, which is part of any successful reboot. But B: I think that show always worked because you get to see young people dropped into the world of medicine, knowing young people that go there are super idealistic and are doing it because it's a calling."

Originally airing 182 episodes between 2001 and 2010, *Scrubs* has left a lasting impact on its fans. While there's no confirmed date yet for when filming of the new episodes will begin, the excitement for this revival is palpable.
