Death Stranding 2: On the Beach releases later this month, but for those who can’t wait, Hideo Kojima took the stage at Summer Game Fest today to unveil a new gameplay clip.
The clip introduces two new characters: Lucy (portrayed by Alissa Jung) and Neil (Luca Marinelli). Neil is a porter, just like our friend Sam Porter Bridges. The two share a poignant moment triggered by a matching mark on their hands—Neil recognizing Lucy from long ago, while Lucy is overcome with emotion. Kojima reveals that Neil will fulfill a role akin to Mads Mikkelsen’s character in the previous game, delivering deep emotional weight.
Death Stranding 2 is the sequel to Hideo Kojima’s open-world delivery adventure. It follows Fragile and Sam Bridges many years after the events of the first game.
In September, Kojima Productions released several gameplay clips from Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, highlighting its surreal photo mode, dancing puppet figures, a character portrayed by Mad Max director George Miller, and other strange wonders born from Hideo Kojima’s imagination.
We also saw a bare-chested Norman Reedus wade through dark sludge to encounter a man named Tarman (played by Miller) and his flying feline companion, alongside an eerie talking puppet. Other characters include Tomorrow (played by Elle Fanning) and Rainy (played by Shioli Kutsuna). The game launches on June 26, 2025, exclusively on PS5.
