YouTube Influencer Accused of Abduction

Summary

  • Popular YouTuber Corey Pritchett is charged with aggravated kidnapping and has left the US.
  • Pritchett posted a video from abroad, making light of the charges and his flight.
  • His potential return to the US and the case's outcome are unknown.

YouTube personality Corey Pritchett, known for his engaging content, faces serious accusations: two counts of aggravated kidnapping. The charges prompted Pritchett to leave the country, surprising many fans.

Pritchett, a US-based content creator, launched his YouTube career in 2016, building a substantial following across two channels, "CoreySSG" (approximately 4 million subscribers) and "CoreySSG Live" (over 1 million subscribers). His videos, including a popular prank video with over 12 million views, established his online presence.

The alleged kidnapping incident occurred on November 24, 2024, in southwest Houston. According to reports from ABC13, two women (ages 19 and 20) met Pritchett at a gym. After a day of activities, the situation escalated when Pritchett allegedly threatened them at gunpoint, driving them at high speed on I-10, confiscating their phones, and stating his intention to kill them. The women reported Pritchett expressed anxiety about being pursued and mentioned accusations of arson.

Pritchett's Flight and Mocking Video

After stopping his vehicle, Pritchett reportedly allowed the women to escape. Charged on December 26, 2024, with two counts of aggravated kidnapping, Pritchett had already fled to Doha, Qatar, on December 9th on a one-way ticket, and is now believed to be in Dubai. He subsequently posted a video online, seemingly mocking the warrants and his situation, claiming to be "on the run." This contrasts with the unrelated case of former YouTube streamer Johnny Somali, who also faces potential imprisonment, this time in South Korea.

The future of this case is uncertain. Whether Pritchett will return to the US to face the charges remains to be seen. The incident echoes the 2023 kidnapping of YouTuber YourFellowArab in Haiti, who was eventually released after a harrowing experience.
