Xbox Developer Direct 2025: January 23rd Showcase Announced
Microsoft has officially announced the next Xbox Developer Direct, scheduled for January 23rd, marking the first Xbox games showcase of 2025. This will be the third installment of the annual event, following the successful showcases in January 2023 and 2024.
Initially rumored for January 9th, the official announcement confirms a January 23rd start time of 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm GMT. The event will be streamed on YouTube and Twitch.
Confirmed Games for Xbox Developer Direct 2025:
The showcase will feature at least three highly anticipated titles:
- Clair Obscur: Expedition 33: A turn-based RPG from Sandfall Interactive (France), slated for a 2025 release and confirmed as a day-one Xbox Game Pass title.
- Doom: The Dark Ages: The latest entry in the iconic Doom franchise from id Software, initially announced in June 2024 and playable at QuakeCon 2024. A mid-2025 release is currently rumored.
- South of Midnight: A stylish action-adventure game from Compulsion Games (Canada), the creators of Contrast and We Happy Few. Announced in June 2023, a release date is still pending and may be revealed during the Direct.
More Than Just Three Games?
Previous Xbox Developer Directs have exceeded 40 minutes in length and showcased multiple games. Given this precedent, the 2025 event likely holds further surprises beyond the three confirmed titles. The 2024 showcase, for instance, included previews of Avowed, Ara: History Untold, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2, and Visions of Mana.
