Xbox Game Pass Ultimate: Stream Select Games on Consoles Now

Author : Harper Update:May 18,2025

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members have just received an exciting new perk: the ability to stream select games directly to their Xbox consoles without the need for downloading. This groundbreaking feature was unveiled in today's Xbox Wire news post, marking a significant advancement for gamers seeking to optimize their gaming experience.

According to the announcement, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members can now stream games from the Game Pass catalog, as well as certain games they own, directly on their Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and Xbox One consoles through cloud streaming. Previously, this functionality was available on smart TVs, PCs, smartphones, and Meta Quest headsets, but this is the first time it has been extended to consoles. This update is designed to help users save time and conserve valuable hard drive space by eliminating the need to download games.

To access this feature on an Xbox console, follow these steps:

  • Go to My games & apps > Full library > Owned Games.
  • Cloud-enabled games will be marked with a cloud badge on their game page. Utilize the Filter option > Ready to play > Cloud gaming to locate these games more easily.
  • Select the game you wish to play and choose Play with Cloud Gaming. You can also start streaming directly from the Store app after purchasing select cloud-playable games.

Conversely, users can also stream any game installed on their Xbox consoles to devices with supported web browsers using this link. Note that this feature is no longer supported on the Xbox mobile app but remains accessible on smartphones via the provided browser link. Xbox is actively working to extend this functionality to Samsung and Amazon Fire smart TVs, as well as Meta Quest headsets.

In another significant update, Xbox has announced that starting this month, Xbox and Xbox 360 backward compatible games will also support remote play, enhancing the flexibility and accessibility of the gaming experience.
