Ryan Gosling in Talks to Star in Shawn Levy's Star Wars Film
Shawn Levy, director of Deadpool & Wolverine, is reportedly on the verge of joining the Star Wars universe, and he's bringing Ryan Gosling along for the ride. The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Levy's Star Wars project is in negotiations with Gosling to take a leading role. Levy has been developing this film since 2022, with a script completed last year. He's re-teaming with Jonathan Tropper, screenwriter for This Is Where I Leave You and The Adam Project, both Levy-directed films.
Plot details remain tightly under wraps. It's known that the film is a standalone project, unrelated to the Skywalker Saga, and likely won't be part of a larger trilogy. Gosling's potential character and the film's time period within the Star Wars timeline are yet to be disclosed.
The potential casting of Gosling has reportedly expedited the project's timeline. Levy was previously attached to direct a boy band movie starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman. However, THR suggests that Gosling's involvement will prioritize the Star Wars film, pushing its production start to the fall.
