Upcoming Sony-Published Game Drops PSN Requirement on PC

Author : Isabella Update:Feb 23,2025

Lost Soul Aside: PSN Account Linking Requirement Removed for PC Release

Lost Soul Aside, the highly anticipated Sony-published action RPG, will launch on PC in 2025 without the controversial PlayStation Network (PSN) account linking requirement. This significant change expands the game's market reach, allowing Sony to sell the title in over 100 countries previously unsupported by PSN.

Developed by UltiZeroGames, Lost Soul Aside emerged from PlayStation's China Hero Project. This Devil May Cry-inspired hack-and-slash title, boasting dynamic combat, has been in development for nearly nine years. While Sony publishes the game for both PS5 and PC, the initial implementation of mandatory PSN linking for PC titles last year faced considerable player backlash.

The removal of the PSN requirement for Lost Soul Aside's PC version was initially noted on its Steam page. While the page initially mentioned PSN linking, SteamDB records show this requirement was swiftly removed. This makes Lost Soul Aside only the second Sony-published PC game to forgo this mandate, following a similar reversal for Helldivers 2.

This decision is a welcome relief for PC gamers in regions without PSN support. It also suggests a potential shift in Sony's approach to PSN linking for future PlayStation PC releases. The poor PC performance of some PSN-linked titles, like God of War Ragnarok, which saw significantly fewer Steam players than its predecessor, may have influenced this decision. While the exact reasons remain unclear, Sony's move likely prioritizes maximizing Lost Soul Aside's player base and sales potential.
