Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles Reveals Another New Character

Star Wars: Jedi Power Battles Gets a Hilarious New Playable Character: Jar Jar Binks!

Aspyr has just dropped a bombshell announcement: Jar Jar Binks is joining the playable character roster in the upcoming re-release of Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles for modern consoles! A new trailer showcases the Gungan's surprisingly effective gameplay, wielding a hefty staff.

This isn't the only exciting news; Aspyr has unveiled nine additional playable characters, with more promised to come. The original 2000 release of Jedi Power Battles featured iconic characters and locations from The Phantom Menace, and this updated version aims to recapture that nostalgia while adding fresh content. Along with lightsaber color customization and cheat code support, these new characters promise a completely revamped experience.

The recently released trailer gives us a glimpse of Jar Jar in action, battling enemies with his signature chaotic energy. While some might have fantasized about a Darth Jar Jar-esque red lightsaber wielding Binks, he'll instead be utilizing a large staff. His comical voice lines are also faithfully included, adding to the comedic chaos.

Jar Jar Binks will be playable when Jedi Power Battles launches on January 23rd, but pre-orders are already open.

New Playable Characters Revealed:

  • Jar Jar Binks
  • Rodian
  • Flame Droid
  • Gungan Guard
  • Destroyer Droid
  • Ishi Tib
  • Rifle Droid
  • Staff Tusken Raider
  • Weequay
  • Mercenary

Aspyr is significantly expanding the playable character lineup. Beyond Jar Jar, nine other new characters have been revealed, with more on the horizon. This diverse roster includes familiar faces like the Staff Tusken Raider and Rodian, as well as several droid types (Flame Droid, Destroyer Droid, and Rifle Droid). Interestingly, Jar Jar isn't the only Gungan joining the fray, as the Gungan Guard is also playable.

With the release date just weeks away, fans can soon experience these new additions firsthand. Let's hope Aspyr leverages their experience with other classic Star Wars game updates (like Star Wars: Bounty Hunter) to deliver the nostalgic, enhanced Jedi Power Battles experience everyone's hoping for.
