In Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl, players can embark on a side quest titled "For Science!" This quest, triggered through interactions with various NPCs in The Zone, involves activating a second measuring device atop a silo. The reward? Access to the STC Malachite facility via a Malachite pass.
Initiating the "For Science!" Quest:
To begin, locate Yaryk Mongoose in the Central Elevator area within the Chemical Plant. Upon approaching, you'll hear a radio conversation between Mongoose and Skif. Head left, past the conveyor belts, and ascend the rusted stairs. Mongoose awaits on the first floor. Speak with him to accept the quest. He'll explain the need to activate a second device located on a nearby silo.
Reaching the Silo's Summit:
Exit the room and climb to the building's roof. Eliminate any rodents encountered. Access the exterior via a broken window and descend using the external ladder. Jump to the silo walkway, equipping a bolt-action weapon to counter electro anomalies. Proceed left along the silo's top to activate the device.
Dealing with the Aftermath:
Activating the device attracts Bloodsuckers. Players can choose to eliminate them or evade them to reach Mongoose.
Confronting Yaryk Mongoose:
Upon confronting Mongoose, he'll explain the experiment's unforeseen consequences. Players can choose to kill Mongoose or accept the reward peacefully. Either choice has no significant impact on the game's progression. Receiving the Malachite pass allows access to the STC Malachite base (unless already obtained via a main mission). The peaceful resolution also yields additional coupons.
