SoMoGa Inc. has released a modernized version of Vay for Android, iOS, and Steam. Vay, a classic 16-bit RPG, returns with enhanced graphics, a redesigned user interface, and controller support.
Originally launched in Japan in 1993 on the Sega CD (developed by Hertz and localized for the US by Working Designs), Vay received an iOS re-release by SoMoGa in 2008. This new version builds upon that legacy.
What's New in the Revamped Vay?
This updated Vay boasts over 100 enemies, a dozen formidable bosses, and exploration across 90 diverse areas. A notable addition is the adjustable difficulty setting.
The revamped version also includes an auto-save function and Bluetooth controller support for enhanced playability. Players can acquire new equipment and items, learn new spells as characters level up, and utilize an AI system for autonomous character combat.
The Story:
Set in a distant galaxy, the game unfolds after a millennium-long interstellar war. A malfunctioning colossal machine crashes into the technologically underdeveloped planet Vay, causing widespread destruction.
Players embark on a quest to rescue their kidnapped wife and potentially save the world. The wedding day is interrupted by an attack, and the bride is abducted, setting the stage for an epic journey to thwart the destructive war machines.
Vay's narrative is engaging, blending classic JRPG elements with modern enhancements. Characters gain experience and gold through random encounters, and the game features nearly ten minutes of animated cutscenes with English and Japanese audio options.
Vay's revamped edition is available on the Google Play Store as a premium title priced at $5.99. Be sure to check out our other gaming news as well.
