Hajimesyacho, a popular Japanese YouTuber known for diverse content, recently revealed his impressive collection of 50,000 Pokémon cards in Pokémon TCG Pocket. This was accomplished by purchasing the maximum 720 Poké Gold daily since the game's October 30, 2024 release. This daily expenditure, estimated at around $100, totals approximately $8,500 (excluding any sales or discounts).

His collection boasts cards from the Genetic Apex (A1) and Mythical Island booster packs, along with limited-edition promotional cards. This dedication showcases the game's appeal and the allure of complete card sets. The recent addition of a "Pokedex" Trainer card, awarded for global collection milestones, further incentivizes players.

McDonald's Happy Meal Collaboration

The Pokémon Company announced a thrilling collaboration with McDonald's on January 21, 2025. Happy Meal purchases now include exclusive Pokémon TCG Pocket-themed boxes containing physical collectible cards and in-game rewards.

Fifteen unique physical cards are available, featuring popular Pokémon like Miraidon, Roaring Moon, and Rayquaza, with seven boasting a holographic finish. In-game rewards include 24 Pack Hourglasses and 12 Hourglasses for opening booster packs and utilizing the Wonder Pick feature.

Four distinct Happy Meal box designs showcase iconic dragon-type Pokémon: Charizard, Rayquaza, Roaring Moon, and Dragonite, accompanied by Pikachu. These limited-time offers are available at participating McDonald's locations until supplies last, with in-game rewards expiring on March 31, 2025.

Upcoming Trading Feature

On January 17, 2025, Pokémon TCG Pocket announced details about its upcoming trading feature. Trading will be limited to friends and cards of similar rarity (1-4 diamonds and 1-star). Rarer cards, such as Special Illustration Rares, will not be tradable. A consumable item will facilitate trades, similar to Stardust in Pokémon GO.

Initially, trading will include cards from the Genetic Apex (A1) and Mythical Island booster packs, with the developers promising to expand the selection based on player feedback. A new booster pack is also teased for release in January 2025.
