Pokémon Trading Card Game: December 2024

This tier list ranks the best decks in Pokémon TCG Pocket, a more casual and beginner-friendly version of the main Trading Card Game. Note that the meta is dynamic, and this list reflects the current state of the game.

Table of Contents

  • S-Tier Decks
  • A-Tier Decks
  • B-Tier Decks

S-Tier Decks

  • Gyarados Ex/Greninja Combo: This deck utilizes a synergistic approach. Druddigon provides a sturdy 100 HP wall and inflicts chip damage without Energy investment. Greninja adds further chip damage and serves as a secondary attacker. Gyarados Ex acts as the powerful finisher, capitalizing on the weakened opponent. Key cards include: Froakie, Frogadier, Greninja, Druddigon, Magikarp, Gyarados Ex, Misty, Leaf, Professor's Research, and Poke Ball.

  • Pikachu Ex: Currently the top deck, Pikachu Ex boasts aggressive, high-speed gameplay. Its 90 damage output for two Energy is exceptionally efficient. Adding Voltorb and Electrode provides additional offensive options and strategic retreat flexibility. Key cards include: Pikachu Ex, Zapdos Ex, Blitzle, Zebstrika, Poke Ball, Potion, X Speed, Professor's Research, Sabrina, and Giovanni.

  • Raichu Surge: While slightly less consistent than the pure Pikachu Ex deck, Raichu and Lt. Surge offer surprising burst damage. Zapdos Ex provides solid support. Energy discard from Raichu is mitigated by Lt. Surge. X Speed enables quick retreats. Key cards include: Pikachu Ex, Pikachu, Raichu, Zapdos Ex, Potion, X Speed, Poke Ball, Professor's Research, Sabrina, and Lt. Surge.

A-Tier Decks

  • Celebi Ex and Serperior Combo: This Grass-type deck, boosted by the Mythical Island expansion, leverages Celebi Ex and Serperior's synergy. Serperior's Jungle Totem ability doubles Grass Pokémon Energy, amplifying Celebi Ex's coin-flip damage potential. Dhelmise offers additional offensive options. However, it's vulnerable to Fire-type decks. Key cards include: Snivy, Servine, Serperior, Celebi Ex, Dhelmise, Erika, Professor's Research, Poke Ball, X Speed, Potion, and Sabrina.

  • Koga Poison: This deck focuses on poisoning opponents and then delivering heavy damage with Scolipede. Weezing and Whirlipede spread poison, while Koga facilitates efficient Pokémon deployment. Leaf provides retreat cost reduction. Tauros serves as a powerful finisher against Ex decks. Key cards include: Venipede, Whirlipede, Scolipede, Koffing, Weezing, Tauros, Poke Ball, Koga, Sabrina, and Leaf. This deck excels against Mewtwo Ex.

  • Mewtwo Ex/Gardevoir Combo: This deck centers around Mewtwo Ex's Psydrive attack, supported by Gardevoir. Rapid evolution of Ralts to Gardevoir is crucial. Jynx provides stalling and early-game offense. Key cards include: Mewtwo Ex, Ralts, Kirlia, Gardevoir, Jynx, Potion, X Speed, Poke Ball, Professor's Research, Sabrina, and Giovanni.

B-Tier Decks

  • Charizard Ex: This deck features Charizard Ex, capable of immense damage. However, it relies on successful draws and setup, utilizing Moltres Ex and Inferno Dance for efficient Energy build-up. Key cards include: Charmander, Charmeleon, Charizard Ex, Moltres Ex, Potion, X Speed, Poke Ball, Professor's Research, Sabrina, and Giovanni.

  • Colorless Pidgeot: This deck uses basic Pokémon for consistent value. Rattata and Raticate provide early-game damage, while Pidgeot's ability disrupts opponents by forcing Pokémon switches. Key cards include: Pidgey, Pidgeotto, Pidgeot, Poke Ball, Professor's Research, Red Card, Sabrina, Potion, Rattata, Raticate, Kangaskhan, and Farfetch'd.

This tier list provides a snapshot of the current Pokémon TCG Pocket meta. Remember that deck building skill and strategic play significantly impact success.
