Pokémon GO's New Year's Celebration: A Festive Extravaganza!

Get ready to celebrate the New Year in Pokémon GO! From December 30th to January 1st, 2025, a special New Year's event is bringing festive fun to the game. Expect themed bonuses, unique Pokémon encounters, and exciting ways to ring in 2025.

Following the December 21st-22nd Community Day event featuring returning Community Day Pokémon, the New Year's event offers a fresh wave of festivities.

This year's event highlights include:

  • Double XP: Earn a whopping 2,025 XP for each Pokémon caught with an Excellent Throw!
  • Festive Atmosphere: Immerse yourself in a vibrant atmosphere with New Year's decorations and celebratory fireworks.
  • Themed Pokémon Encounters: Encounter Jigglypuff (with a ribbon), Hoothoot (in a New Year's outfit), and Wurmple (sporting a party hat) more frequently in the wild. Shiny versions may also appear!

  • Festive Raids: One-star raids feature a snowflake-hat-wearing Pikachu, while three-star raids star party-hat-adorned Raticate and Wobbuffet. Shiny rates are boosted for all three!
  • Research Tasks: Complete Field Research and Timed Research tasks for extra Pokémon encounters and rewards. A paid Timed Research ($2) offers exclusive rewards including Premium Battle Passes, Lucky Eggs, Stardust, and event Pokémon encounters.
