New details have emerged regarding the highly anticipated action game, Phantom Blade Zero, including its playtime, difficulty options, and extensive weapon selection. Expect a thrilling experience launching in 2025.

Debunking the Soulslike Comparison: Four Difficulty Levels

Phantom Blade Zero Playtime Estimated to be 20-30 Hours with Adjustable Difficulty

Phantom Blade Zero will offer four distinct difficulty settings: Easy, Ordinary, Difficult, and Extremely Difficult. This directly counters earlier comparisons to Soulslike games, a label the game director, Soulframe, has actively refuted. While acknowledging inspiration from Soulslike titles in terms of level design (multi-layered maps, multiple paths, hidden areas), Soulframe emphasizes that Phantom Blade Zero's core gameplay is distinct. He describes the game as "Ninja Gaiden Combat on a Souls Game Map," blending fast-paced, combo-driven combat with exploration.

Extensive Gameplay Features: Weapons, Playtime, and More

Players can expect a robust arsenal of over 30 primary and 20 secondary weapons, each with unique attributes. The main story is estimated to take 20-30 hours to complete, with an additional 20-30 hours of side content. Boss fights feature at least two phases, with the convenient option to restart from the second phase upon death. A "Li Wulin" mode allows players to rematch defeated bosses, potentially unlocking hidden challenges. A currently undisclosed mechanic will also influence the game's ending, hinting at multiple possible outcomes.

Year of the Snake Gameplay Trailer and Future Announcements

The recently released "Year of the Snake Gameplay Trailer" showcases Soul, the protagonist, battling the "Chief Disciple of The Seven Stars," and highlights weapons like the "Weapon No.13 Soft Snake Sword" and "Weapon No.27 White Serpent and Crimson Viper." While a release date is yet to be announced, it's confirmed for 2025. Further exciting announcements are promised by Soulframe and the development team.

Phantom Blade Zero is currently in development for PlayStation 5, with a PC release also planned. Stay tuned for further updates on our Phantom Blade Zero page.
