Max has unveiled an exciting new trailer for Peacemaker Season 2, significantly enhancing its ties to the Superman universe by introducing Maxwell Lord, Hawkgirl, and Guy Gardner right from the opening scene. The trailer begins with Sean Gunn portraying Maxwell Lord, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner / Green Lantern, and Isabela Merced as Kendra Saunders / Hawkgirl conducting a dismissive interview with John Cena's character, Peacemaker, for a potential superhero team. The interview doesn't go smoothly, leaving Peacemaker visibly frustrated as he exits the building.

This trailer offers fans their first glimpse of these supporting characters, who are also slated to appear in James Gunn's upcoming Superman movie.

Mark your calendars for August 21 when Peacemaker Season 2 hits Max, following the release of Superman on July 11. This marks the third entry in the new DCU, which was initiated by the Creature Commandos TV series last year.

James Gunn and co-CEO Peter Safran are steering the DCU away from the criticized DC Extended Universe, which included films like Justice League, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Man of Steel. However, certain elements from the DCEU will continue into the new DCU, with Peacemaker being a prime example. While Season 1 was part of the old DCEU, Season 2 transitions into the new DCU.

James Gunn has emphasized that "many strands will remain consistent as far as Peacemaker's story goes," although it's still uncertain which specific elements will carry over. He has confirmed that all members of Team Peacemaker will return with the same actors. This includes John Cena reprising his role as Peacemaker, joined by Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., Freddie Stroma as Adrian Chase, and Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo.

Additionally, Gunn has noted that Peacemaker Season 2 will be set after the events of both Creature Commandos and Superman, with the latter's events directly impacting the series.
