Hideaki Nishino has been appointed as the sole CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE), effective April 1, 2025. This announcement comes from a recent press release, which also detailed significant leadership changes within Sony Corporation.
Sony's current CFO, Hiroki Totoki, will step into the role of president and CEO of Sony Corporation, succeeding Kenichiro Yoshida, who has held the position since April 2018, following Kazuo Hirai. Additionally, Lin Tao, the Senior Vice President of Finance, Corporate Development, and Strategy, will assume the role of CFO.
Last year, following the retirement of former SIE CEO Jim Ryan, it was announced that leadership responsibilities would be divided between Nishino and Hermen Hulst. Hulst took charge of PlayStation Studios, while Nishino managed the hardware and technology sectors. With Nishino's new appointment, he will now oversee the entire SIE operation and lead the platform business group, whereas Hulst will continue to head PlayStation Studios.
Nishino, who has been with Sony since 2000 and previously served as Senior Vice President of the Platform Experience Group, expressed his enthusiasm about his new role. "I am truly honored to take the helm at Sony Interactive Entertainment," he stated. "Technology and creativity are two of our biggest strengths as we continue to focus on developing experiences that deliver entertainment for everyone. We will continue to grow the PlayStation community in new ways, such as IP expansion, while also delivering the best in technology innovation. I want to thank Hermen for his expertise and leadership as he continues his role as CEO, Studio Business Group. I am deeply grateful for the PlayStation community and their continued support and I am very excited for what the future holds."
This strategic shift in leadership is poised to drive Sony Interactive Entertainment forward, leveraging Nishino's extensive experience and vision for the future of gaming and entertainment.
