Nintendo has disclosed the upgrade costs for two additional Switch games from the original version to the Switch 2 Edition—Kirby and the Forgotten Land and Super Mario Party Jamboree—and the prices are surprisingly high.
While upgrading The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom costs $9.99 each, NintendoLife observed that both Kirby and the Forgotten Land and Super Mario Party Jamboree upgrades cost more than double that amount per title.
The Nintendo Switch 2 Enhanced Edition of Breath of the Wild includes upgraded graphics and performance, achievements, and support for the new "Zelda Notes" feature on the Nintendo Switch Online app. Current owners of Breath of the Wild on Switch won't receive these enhancements by default, but can buy an upgrade pack for $10 to enable them.
The Switch 2 Edition of Kirby and the Forgotten Land’s Star-Crossed World introduces new story elements. Super Mario Party Jamboree’s Switch 2 Edition includes a new experience called Jamboree TV, which uses the Joy-Con 2 mouse controls, the Switch 2 microphone, and the optional Switch 2 USB-C camera. In addition to enhanced resolution up to 1440p in TV mode and improved frame rates, new minigames and online features are also available.
Although U.S. pricing on the American Nintendo eShop has not yet been confirmed—possibly due to uncertainty around President Trump's tariffs—the UK Nintendo eShop lists the Kirby and the Forgotten Land upgrade at £16.99 / €19.99, which is more than double the £7.99 / €9.99 required to upgrade either Breath of the Wild or Tears of the Kingdom.
The Super Mario Party Jamboree – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV upgrade is priced the same. This suggests a U.S. price of $19.99.
The $20 upgrade fee for both games may be related to the surprising $80 retail cost for Kirby and The Forgotten Land - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star Crossed World and Super Mario Party Jamboree - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV. The original Switch versions of these games are priced $20 lower at $59.99.
Here are the U.S. prices for Nintendo Switch 2 Edition games for non-upgraders:
Kirby and The Forgotten Land - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star Crossed World - $79.99The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition - $69.99Super Mario Party Jamboree - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV - $79.99The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition - $79.99
It's worth noting that both Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom upgrade packs are included at no extra cost for Nintendo Switch Online and Expansion Pack subscribers. As of now, however, there is no comparable offer for players looking to upgrade Kirby or Party Jamboree.
Pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 opened earlier today, April 24, with the price holding at $449.99—and the response was as intense as anticipated. At the same time, Nintendo has issued an alert to U.S. customers who placed a Switch 2 pre-order through the My Nintendo Store, stating that release day delivery is not guaranteed due to overwhelming demand.
