[ttpp]Avex Pictures has unveiled a new mobile game based on the acclaimed Made in Abyss franchise, marking the first time the beloved series is making its way to mobile platforms. Titled Made in Abyss: A Difficult and Mysterious Journey, the game was announced alongside the launch of its official X account, which will serve as a hub for future updates and announcements as the release date approaches.
While specific gameplay details remain under wraps, the title is described as a casual mobile experience designed for both longtime fans and newcomers. Set to launch on Android and iOS, the game will initially be available only in Japan, with no confirmed plans for a global release at this time.
Made in Abyss began as a manga series in 2012 by Akihito Tsukushi, serialized on Web Comic Gamma. It tells the story of Riko, a young orphan from the town of Orth, which lies at the edge of a colossal, unexplored chasm known as the Abyss. This mysterious pit is filled with ancient relics, bizarre creatures, and deadly dangers that have claimed countless lives.
Inspired by her mother Lyza—a legendary White Whistle Cave Raider who vanished in the depths—Riko embarks on a perilous descent into the unknown. There, she encounters Reg, a mysterious boy with robotic features and no memory of his past. Together, they journey deeper into the Abyss, facing unimaginable trials and uncovering its dark secrets.
The manga’s success led to a critically acclaimed anime adaptation in 2017, followed by the 2020 film Made in Abyss: Dawn of the Deep Soul. In 2022, Chime Corporation released Made in Abyss: Binary Star Falling into Darkness, a 3D action RPG for consoles and PC.
