By choosing the Switch 2 bundle that includes Super Mario Kart World, you save $30 compared to purchasing the console and game separately. Yes, the MSRP Is $79.99
When bought on its own, Mario Kart World comes with a price tag of $79.99, which is $10 higher than the standard price for AAA PlayStation and Xbox titles in this generation. While I'm not thrilled about the rising costs of games between generations, I understand that development expenses have surged. Hopefully, this higher price reflects the expansive scale and quality of Mario Kart World.
What Is Mario Kart World?
Mario Kart World is set to be the most expansive Mario Kart game to date. It features an open-world environment reminiscent of the Forza Horizon series. In Grand Prix mode, you can transition seamlessly from one track to another after finishing a race. The game's tracks are dynamic, affected by weather conditions and time of day, which can impact your racing experience. You're not confined to the tracks either; Nintendo promises you can drive "virtually everywhere" in the Mushroom Kingdom. With 24 drivers per race, it's more crowded than ever before.
The new Knockout Tour mode adds an exciting twist, where you race across the open world, passing through checkpoints with placement requirements. Fall behind, and you're out of the race. For those who prefer a more relaxed experience, Free Roam mode allows you to explore the world at your leisure, team up with friends, and even snap photos.
More details about Mario Kart World will be revealed during the Nintendo Direct on April 17. In the meantime, check out our hands-on preview for more insights.
