It wouldn't be a Nintendo console without a Zelda title, and the Nintendo Switch 2 delivers with a twist. During today's Nintendo Direct, fans were introduced to a new chapter in the Hyrule Warriors saga: a prequel to Tears of the Kingdom titled Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, set to launch this winter.
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment brings back the action-packed gameplay of the series, this time focusing on the ancient history depicted in Tears of the Kingdom. The game centers around Zelda and her allies from the past, including the last of the Zonai, Rauru, his sister Mineru, and his wife Sonia. They team up to battle Ganondorf and his forces, weaving a narrative that explores Zelda's journey after she travels back in time.

This marks the third installment in the Hyrule Warriors series, following the original and Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, which served as a prequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Age of Calamity was praised for its engaging narrative and gameplay, earning a 9/10 rating from us as "a joy to play and discover" and "a blast from start to finish."
It will be fascinating to see if Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment follows suit with its own unique twists on the established lore. Stay tuned to catch up on all the exciting announcements from today's Nintendo Direct.
