Exciting news for fans of Split Fiction as Variety reports that the popular game is set to hit the big screen. The film adaptation is currently in the works, with a package being assembled in response to multiple offers from top Hollywood studios vying for the movie rights.
Story Kitchen, a media company renowned for its expertise in adapting games and other non-traditional properties into films and TV shows, is at the helm of this project. They are putting together a comprehensive package that includes writers, a director, and cast members. Notably, Story Kitchen, previously known as dj2 Entertainment, was also behind the upcoming film adaptation of Hazelight Studios’ previous hit, It Takes Two. Their portfolio also boasts the successful Sonic the Hedgehog films and Netflix's Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft.
While specific details about the Split Fiction movie are still under wraps, the buzz around this project is palpable. The game itself has already achieved remarkable success, having sold over two million copies within its first week of release, as confirmed earlier this month. IGN's review praised Split Fiction as an essential co-op adventure that remains engaging throughout its impressive 14-hour gameplay.
Adding to the excitement, Hazelight director Josef Fares recently revealed that the studio is already in the process of developing their next game. With such momentum, the future looks bright for Hazelight Studios and its fans.
