Becoming a Hollow in the Hollow Era
Embark on your journey as a Soul Spirit, a deceased entity, faced with a pivotal decision: to ascend as a Shinigami or descend into the realm of the Hollow. Opting for the latter path involves breaking all the links on your chain, a process that will naturally occur every two minutes, transforming you into a Hollow even if you remain inactive.

Warning: Venturing into the Hollow Era as a Hollow might seem less exciting compared to the Shinigami route. While Hollows exude a cooler vibe, be prepared for extensive grinding and seemingly endless battles. Reaching the coveted ranks of Vasto Lorde or Espada requires dedication and patience, as you'll spend considerable time on repetitive tasks.
Hollow Progression in the Hollow Era
Your initial goal is to evolve into a Gillian, a transformation that demands relentless combat against other Hollows, consuming their remnants. Reaching level 15 is your ticket to Gillian status, but at level 10, you gain access to the Garganta gateway, leading to Hueco Mundo, a dimension ripe with Hollows to hunt and devour, simplifying your progression.
Be aware, as a Hollow, you're a target for both Shinigami and fellow Hollows, unlike the relative peace enjoyed by Soul Reapers. For those curious about the Shinigami path, explore our full Shinigami progression guide.
Gillian Form in the Hollow Era
As a Gillian, your mission continues: eliminate more Hollows and engage with Hollow Pillars scattered across Hueco Mundo. Accumulate sufficient Progression Points to be drawn into your inner world, where you must triumph over five formidable Hollows in three separate encounters to ascend to Adjucha.

Remember, these inner world Hollows are significantly tougher. Don't fear death; you can retry as many times as needed.
Adjucha Form in the Hollow Era
As an Adjucha, you face a crucial decision: evolve into a Vasto Lorde or an Arrancar. Let's start with the Arrancar route.

Arrancar Progression
To become an Arrancar, seek out a Crystal Bush in Hueco Mundo, appearing every 30 to 60 minutes (typically around 45 minutes). Touching one initiates your transformation. As an Arrancar, you gain the ability to use a keybind to teleport to Hueco Mundo. Check out the list of all Arrancar Ressurections available in Hollow Era.

At level 50, you're ready to pursue your Resurrección, but for now, Arrancars are limited to Kendo skills, with hopes for future expansions.
Vasto Lorde Progression
Choosing the Vasto Lorde path requires ongoing combat and consumption of Hollows to amass Progression Points. Be cautious; death results in a 1% loss of these points. Many players remain stuck as Adjuchas due to the grind. To reach Vasto Lorde status, you need 800 Progression Points, earned as follows:
- Hollow: 1 Point
- Gillian: 6 Points
- Adjucha: 4 Points
- Vasto Lorde: 8 Points
- Arrancar: 8 Points
- Espada: 10 Points
Vasto Lorde Form in the Hollow Era
Achieving Vasto Lorde status is a tougher challenge than becoming an Arrancar. You'll need to collect 800 race Progression Points and gather all Hollow Items, which have a random drop chance. Here's a breakdown of the items and their sources:
- Hollows: Back Fins (Epic, 5% drop chance, +1 HP regeneration), Fin Tail (Legendary, 1% drop chance, +1 Reiatsu regeneration and +1 Speed)
- Gillian: Back Spikes (Rare, 10% drop chance, +1 Reiatsu)
- Adjucha: Tail (Epic, 5% drop chance, +1 Speed), Single Horn (Uncommon, 25% drop chance, +1 Strength), Double Horn (Rare, 10% drop chance, +2 Strength), Triple Horn (Epic, 5%, +3 Strength)
- Vasto Lorde: Spiral Horn (Epic, 5% drop chance, +1 Reiatsu)
Becoming Espada in the Hollow Era
If you're on the Vasto Lorde path, your next step is to evolve into an Espada. The process mirrors that of becoming an Arrancar: locate a Crystal Bush in Hueco Mundo and interact with it.

To spot a Crystal Bush more easily, disable Atmosphere, Bloom, and Depth of Field in your settings, then find a vantage point to scan the environment.
How to Get Your Resurrección
As an Arrancar or Espada, your ultimate goal is to unlock your Resurrección. First, reach level 50, then visit Hueco Mundo and speak with Isen, the King of Hueco Mundo.
Screenshot by: The Escapist
Isen will task you with defeating 50 Arrancars. Once completed, you can activate your Resurrección when your Rage Bar is fully charged and pulsating. To fill your Rage Bar, engage in combat, either dealing or receiving damage. The default keybind for Resurrección is “Y”, and it will deactivate if you run out of Reiatsu or Rage.

Hollow Era Tips and Tricks
While playing as a Hollow may seem cooler, it's less versatile than evolving as a Shinigami. Be prepared for extensive grinding, and remember, as a Hollow, you're a target for both other Hollows and Shinigami. If you find yourself disoriented in combat, use the lockup button to fixate on your primary target. This is particularly useful in scenarios where the game's occasional bugs and lag can cause issues, such as when you're pinned by large Hollows, unable to move yet taking no damage, leaving you stuck until you're defeated and respawn.
Mastering the art of blocking enemy attacks is crucial, as even low-level foes can inflict significant damage, and your health regeneration might not keep up. Upon death, you'll lose a bit of money, but the real challenge is trekking back to your quest objectives. Consider investing in the bus teleport feature if you can afford it; it's a time-saver.
When allocating Skill Points, prioritize Strength and Speed initially, regardless of your race. While abilities like Sword, Vitality, and Reiatsu are enticing, you'll benefit most from enhanced damage output and swift movement early on.
If you're ever unsure of your surroundings, press and hold J (default keybind) to use your Reiatsu sense and reveal all markers around Karakura.
This concludes our Hollow Era Hollow progression guide. Keep in mind that the game is still in development, so expect some bugs and lag, even on high-performance PCs. Before starting your journey, make sure to redeem your Hollow Era codes to give yourself a boost, as this game is not for the faint-hearted.
