Fallout 76 Season 20 introduces an exciting transformation for players, allowing them to become Ghouls in the radiation-soaked wasteland of Appalachia. Dive into the details of this ghoul-themed update and learn about the new level 50 character boost.
Fallout 76 Season 20 Out Now
Unleash the Ghoul Within
Fallout 76's latest update lets players experience the game as a Ghoul, adding a thrilling twist to the gameplay. Bethesda announced on March 18 that Season 20, "The Ghoul Within," is now live, featuring new ghoul-related features, mechanics, and cosmetics that enhance players' C.A.M.P.
In this update, players can undergo Ghoulification by completing the "Leap of Faith" questline. This quest takes players to a new part of the Savage Divide, where they'll meet unique characters who aid in their transformation. As a Ghoul, players gain access to exclusive abilities like Glow and Feral, along with 30 new Ghoul-specific Perks.
The Feral ability replaces traditional hunger and thirst mechanics with a Feral meter that boosts different stats based on its level. Dropping to 0% on the Feral meter drastically alters gameplay, granting "+150% Melee Damage, while reducing -5 Endurance, -99 Charisma, -30 Max HP, -20 Max AP, -300% Hip-fire Gun Accuracy & V.A.T.S. Accuracy."
On the other hand, the Glow ability allows players to consume radiation, granting immunity to diseases and mutations, and causing them to emit a glow. This ability also boosts maximum health, heals damage, and contributes to unlocking Ghoul-exclusive Perks, known as "Gherks."
Players can choose from 28 perks and two new legendary perks designed specifically for Ghouls. Note that perks related to Hunger, Thirst, and Chem Resistance are not available to Ghouls, as they do not benefit from these.
A Day In The Life of A Ghoul
Navigating the radioactive wasteland as a Ghoul becomes more manageable with the new abilities and Gherks. However, certain factions like the Brotherhood of Steel may view Ghouls as enemies, potentially limiting access to some questlines.
Fortunately, players can overcome these restrictions with help from a new NPC named Jaye, who provides disguises allowing Ghouls to interact with previously inaccessible content. If the Ghoul life doesn't suit, players can revert to being human via the Character Screen, though this is a one-time decision. To become a Ghoul again, players must purchase the Ghoul Retransformation for 1000 Atoms.
Level 50 Character Boost and Season 20 Patch Notes
Both new and veteran players can now accelerate their progress with the Level 50 Character Boost, available in the Season 20 update for 1500 Atoms. This boost offers immediate access to multiplayer features like Daily Ops, Public Events, and select story content.
The update also includes numerous bug fixes and balance adjustments, such as enhancements to accessibility, combat mechanics, and weapon damage. Bethesda has also announced the next update, "The Big Bloom," scheduled for April 29, as part of their season calendar.
Since its launch in November 2018, Fallout 76 has overcome initial challenges and now boasts a "Mostly Positive" review on Steam, with 76% of reviews being positive. The game is available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
